In Grand County, the average elevation is 8600 feet, 9200 at the base of Winter Park Resort. Altitude Sickness symptoms can start as early as Denver’s 5280 elevation, and especially above 7500 feet where O2 levels drop from 24% at sea level to roughly 18% in the resort areas. That is 30% less O2 in the same relative volume of air…which is why you get out of breath so quickly, have headaches, nausea, sleeplessness, and a variety of other symptoms.
